My People... Hold On

Hesperus Wonderful dramatic opening, the voice of a black woman in all her honesty, vulnerability and openess. And then one of the fiercest tracks of Zulu, total hardcore: 'Now they are through with me', full of twists and turns, and suddenly ending in a kind of soul-track, brilliant! This is 21st century music at it's best. The end lecture is dramatic and disturbing, spoken again by a black woman. Makes you think. Favorite track: Blackcurrant.

I can't take much more of this They got me caught from every angle Not just the white, blue and red It's my own blood and flesh You took a people turned them inside out Up against their own kind And now the killers you but you are me And I am you Now they are through Now they are through Through with me
3.
Sit back, now what do you see The same as we, so what we gonna do? Face facts, it's nothing new I'm stuck in this zoo How could you live with open eyes And not see what they're doing to me Torture Torment Hatred All these things Can't you see This is my nightmare
4.
4 block death trap There's no way out Of this place Kill or be killed
5.
I see you watching They beat me down You turn around and You keep walking "Thank God it's you not me" You've never been there At the mercy of your enemy As they look you in the eyes And take away your life What's it gonna take What's it gonna be For you to see We're human beings It's up to you And you alone Make that change
